Injection molding waste gas is mainly organic waste gas produced by plastic particles in the melting process. The main components of plastic injection waste gas are styrene, toluene, organic waste gas and other non methane hydrocarbons. The unorganized emission of NMHC will cause serious pollution to the environment.
Treatment method of injection molding waste gas:
1. Activated carbon adsorption
The principle of activated carbon adsorption is to use the porous structure on the surface of adsorbent (granular activated carbon and activated carbon fiber) to adsorb VOCs in waste gas. Activated carbon adsorption is the most widely used treatment technology.
The waste gas from injection molding is usually treated by temperature swing adsorption desorption process. After the adsorption of carbon is saturated, the saturated carbon bed is desorbed and regenerated by steam. The carbon layer is heated by steam to reach the boiling point of VOCs. VOCs are desorbed and mixed with water vapor to form a mixture, which is included in the condenser. The mixture is condensed into liquid state. If VOCs are water-soluble, the liquid mixture is purified by distillation; if VOCs are not soluble in water, liquid organic matter can be directly recovered by separator. Temperature swing adsorption recovery technology is mainly used in the condition of relatively simple components in waste gas and high value of organic matter recycling.
2. Photocatalytic oxidation
For injection molding waste gas with low concentration, photocatalytic oxidation technology is to use high-energy ultraviolet light, in the presence of catalyst, the waste gas molecules will be decomposed to generate water and carbon dioxide. Photocatalytic oxidation technology is suitable for the treatment of injection molding waste gas with low concentration.
3. Low temperature plasma
When the applied voltage reaches the discharge voltage of the gas, the gas is broken down and a mixture of electrons, ions, atoms and free radicals is produced. Low temperature plasma degradation of pollutants is to use these high-energy electrons, free radicals and other active particles and pollutants in the exhaust gas to decompose the pollutant molecules in a very short time, so as to achieve the purpose of pollutant degradation. Plasma technology is suitable for injection molding waste gas with low concentration, especially for multi-component malodorous gas which is difficult to be treated by other methods, such as chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry and so on.
